Happy T-Day From Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!

Greets All! Spider-Man here!
Just wanted to break away from my usual Holiday duties to wish all of my friends here in the USA a Happy and Prosperous Thanksgiving! I've been busy getting those all important shots that'll earn me those extra few bucks to shop for presents this year. Unfortunately alot of my time during the holidays is taken up as Spider-Man. People get desperate this time of year. Alot of thefts, robberies and holdups take place. So a spider's got to do what a spider's got to do! It kinda sucks though. Some of the folks I nab seem to be good people. They're just in a bad situation. One guy pleaded with me to let him go. He had lost his job & home and didn't have anything for his family. The guy sat there and wept. I felt like a total jackass. But if I let all of those types go, how fair is it to those I've busted? Crimefighting is not the place for favortism...

Anywho.... Here's a couple of shots I got over at the parade grounds!

What an honor to be an addition to Macy's Tradition! I'm glad that I can make a positive impact on young and old. I love the parade! As a matter of fact as I sit here in my apartment typing this up, I'm enjoying the parade! But unfortunately I gotta head out. A Spider's job is never done. Besides, Aunt May is expecting me over at her place this afternoon. For you all celebrating Thanksgiving today, The best of wishes to you all! Be safe out there. And to the rest of my fans? Let not your heart be troubled... Spider-Man gives you his BEST!

Peace All and as always,

I LOVE FAN MAIL!

Received this question from Webmistress during my (ahem...) downtime.

Dear Spider-Man
You often talk about movies you've seen, but you haven't said anything about the movies based on you. What do you think of them? Does Tobey Maguire do a good job playing you? I'd be interested to know.

Webmistress

Hello Webmistress! (I still love that name!) To tell you the truth, I refrained on commenting on the movies based on 'yours truly' for the mere fact that I didn't want to sound full of myself! I leave those reviews up to my fans. In all honesty, I really loved the films (except for one part that I will explain later).

I had full confidence in Stan as far as the script went. The use of MJ in a movie that should have involved Gwen was my idea. The whole Gwen thing still doesn't sit well with me. And MJ added that presence that she always exudes. I was really happy that Stan went with it. Seeing Gobby was a little unsettling but I got a secret for you, that Gobby was tame compared to the real (rubber-faced) nightmare!

Tobey was GREAT! Sheeesh! I didn't think I looked so awesome swinging through the city. I guess I've just become used to it. Maybe it was just the CGI. One question, do you think Tobey was geeky enough? Those that knew me in high school know I was a Class A, numero uno DWEEB! Nowhere near the coolness of Tobey! Even after I became Spider-Man! Thanks Tobey for the boost in 'coolness'!

Okay, my ONE AND ONLY gripe with the movies: Spider-Man was a little too liberal with his identity. My identity is my most closely guarded secret. That whole scene on the train was nonsense and I let Stan know about it. Stan did have a good comeback which I later came to terms with. Stan said that movies have to condense entire sagas into a couple of hours. But still, I'd NEVER take my mask off willy-nilly in front of a gaggle of onlookers. But oh well, It was still a great movie.

Enough about my critique of the 'me' movies. What did you think? What did you not like about the way I was portrayed?

Thanks for the note Webmistress!

I'm BACK!!

Sorry for the absense all! I had a "wardrobe malfunction" the other night. I was cruising over SOHO with a bag slung over my shoulder. Well, the bag's strap finally gave way and the bag went plumeting toward the street.

What does a bag have to do with my absense? I'll tell ya what it has to do with it.... My laptop was in that bag. I tried to snag it before it hit bottom but alas even Spider-Man comes up short sometimes! I've been bummed out ever since! It's amazing the impact the Net has on us isn't it? Sheeesh! I felt like I lost my only child when that laptop took it's leap of doom.

Anywho, all is well now, I gathered up the remains and built a new rig. It's not in the best of condition but it'll do until I can scrape enough cash together to get me a new spiffy one! I saw an ad once for this laptop that is designed to take a beating. It had rubber guards on it and everything! I NEED THAT! Does anyone remember who made that laptop?

Well, just wanted to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! I'm back in action and looking forward to hearing from you all again! Spidey is Wired Again!!!!

Oh, P.S.....
I got a new bag! don't want a repeat of that unfortunate incident!

Take Care and as always,

A Letter From Drew...

Greets all! Spider-Man here with a letter from a fan that I thought I would share. I knew this question was going to come up eventually so I'm glad I can touch on it...

"Spider-Man - I read your blog everyday and love your daily entries. But I got a question. How come you never write about your battles with those super-villians that wander into town? I would love to hear about your adventures fighting all those bad guys!"

Keep up the great work Spidey!
Drew

When I started this blog, I decided not to write about my exploits with super-villians. I save those stories for Stan and the gang over at Marvel. They do a way better job writing about me than I could ever do. Call me modest. Besides, I really wanted a way to reach out and touch my fans in a way that the comics can't. I wanted to show everyone that when it all boils down, I'm just a regular guy just like you all, trying to scrape out a living although I try make the city a bit safer for all at the same time.

Now don't get me wrong, I may on occasion, add some details from time to time on my adventures if they don't make it into print over at Marvel. But for the most part, this blog is for you to check in on me and see what your average everyday superhero does when he isn't embroiled in the talons of some evil global dominator. I may have super powers and all, but I still need to pay bills, get groceries, and ya know, lead a normal life!

Thanks for the Email Drew! You don't know how much I appreciate hearing from my fans out there! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I've been buried lately. Between the Bugle and my duties, free time has been a bit challenging. Trust me, MJ is letting me know that I need to slow down a bit!

I love all of you! Keep checking in!

A Quick Hello To My Fans!

Taking a quick break here at the Chrysler building. Working on my 7th round trip of NYC. Where the heck do all these wastes of skin come from? I keep thinking I'm gonna run into the Alien Queen laying scum-bag eggs or something. Lately it seems like they've all crawled out from under their rocks.

I'm tired, cold and hungry. So much for the glamorous life of a superhero! Got some advice for ya,

If your ever at a science expo and you see a glowing spider scurrying about? Run. Run far. And run fast! Sheeeeeesh!

Well, wish I could chat some more but I got to head over to the upper west side. Busy night! I'll check in with you all in the morning. Gots ta sling outta here!!!

Peace All,
Spider-Man

Making The Rounds

So I head out this morning as I always do. I get to the upper west side. All is calm. People are going about their lives. One thing struck me however. There are throngs of people standing in lines at the polls! I don't think I've ever seen such a turnout for an election! There is nothing quite like witnessing the gears of democracy churning along. Today is going to be a very interesting day. By day's end we could possibly have a new president.

My opinion on the matter? I really don't have one. I'd be happy with either in the White House. When it comes right down to it, life will go on. I still have my job to do and that is my number one priority no matter who is commander in chief. I leave the job of running the country to them. I do have a preference and will vote. But I'll keep that one to myself ;)

Heading north, I get up into Harlem. Alls quiet. I love mornings like this. I stop off and warm up on top of an apartment building. It's pretty brisk this morning. Time to head out. I make my way down to the upper east side. More lines at the polls. From up here, they look like little ants huddled close to keep warm. Good for them. It would be real easy to say 'screw this!' and go back the the comfy confines of their homes.

Okay, I get down to SOHO and my good luck changes with a chiming of spider-sense. Here is this moron with gun in hand trying to pull off a carjacking. The guy looks up, sees me and hurls his 9 into the storm drain. Then trys to run. Puh-Lease!!!! I swing in, grab the guy then elavate him 15 stories to the top of some apartments. When I let him go the kid was frozen with fear. Just what he needed. "Did you really think you could get away?" I asked him. "Yea" he said. "You got bigger fish to fry than some punk kid". Ya know what? He's right. I scooped him up, gave him a nice free-fall for about 1o stories and handed him off to the waiting officers on the street and pointed out the storm drain where they would find a loaded 9 millimeter and suggested they get this kid a new pair of underwear. All in a days work.

Well, I've gone on long enough. Time to head home and get this day going. Remember - If you can vote, GET OUT AND VOTE!
